Sea turtles are some of the better known marine creatures in the world with currently 7 species worldwide. They have been around for about 200million years and have even out lived the dinosaurs. Sea turtles come from a similar time period as the crocodiles and have many things in common including temperature dependant sex determination of hatchlings. In the past sailors have been known to tell tales of moving rocks in the seas which have turned out to be sea turtles. However sea turtle numbers have declined dramatically in the past 50 years all across the world. Sea turtles are now on the brink of extinction and no more so than in Malaysia.
