Help our Penyu is all about YOU, and helping you to get involved in turtle conservation.
There are many ways for you to get involved which range from volunteering, being on our Walk for Turtles committee, spending a few months interning with us to raising money or even just following us on facebook or twitter. We are always open to suggestions and if you would like to help in any way possible please let us know our shells are always open to suggestions.
Volunteer
Volunteering is probably the best way to make a lasting impression on the sea turtle population. The program prices may seem high but these are what keep Help Our Penyu running. Our Perhentian turtle conservation project injects RM1000 per week per volunteer into the Perhentian village economy meaning the villagers who illegally collect eggs will now benefit financially from protecting turtles.

Intern
Help Our Penyu couldn’t run without our interns. Interns are needed at the Perhentian turtle conservation project to help lead the volunteers in the daily tasks. Interns are usually past volunteers or someone who has experience of working with turtles or volunteers. In 2011 we will need 3 interns at any one period as we expand the project to the Perhentian village.

Walk for Turtles Committee
In 2010 the Walk for Turtles was run by a group from our facebook members. We had a great success in 2010 and even two of the committee members have since stopped their family from eating turtles eggs. Its through empowering everyday people in sea turtle conservation that HOPE plans to make a big difference. We will be searching for new and old committee members for the Walk for Turtles campaigns each and every year.

Holiday
Do you fancy going on holiday and seeing sea turtles? You can book your turtle and marine related holidays with our travel partner Ecoteer Responsible Travel and they will donate 5% of your fee to Help Our Penyu.
Go on holiday and support HOPE
Raise money
Want to do something for HOPE after your volunteer trip or turtle holiday? Why don’t you help to raise money for us by doing your own sponsored event at your place of work or school. We have set up a fundraising team in the UK made up of past volunteers and HOPE friends which can offer you support in your fundraising efforts – be it a collection pot for your small change to a sponsored event at a restaurant or social club.

Follow us online
The online world is now set deep inside us all, and its something that HOPE is using to engage more people in sea turtle conservation. Get active on our facebook fanpage and discuss hot turtle topics or perhaps even enter one of our competitions to win discounts on our volunteer projects.
