Wish List

The general day to day running costs of HOPE will come from volunteer contributions. However project developments will often need one-off funding. This is why we have created our wish list of things to donate to or even buy out right. To anybody who donate to a wish list item you shall be given a progress report so you know how your donation has been spent.

On our wish list at the moment are:

Infra-red camera – RM4000 – we need a second infra-red camera for use on the second turtle nesting beach which we will be protecting in 2011.

2 CB Radios – RM500 each –  to enable us to protect the second nesting beach we need improved communication as phone signal is very unstable.  CB Radio’s will enable the team on the second turtle nesting beach to be able to make constant communication with not only other HOPE staff in the village or bubbles but also with the police in the Perhentian islands.

Support our Turtles need trees club

Turtle Need Trees Club session – RM500 – each session lasts for 3 hours and educates the children of Sekolah Perhentian about marine conservation.  The session involves the volunteers who through their presence helps to increase the confidence and English skills of the school children.

Nest Temperature Probe – RM1500 – in 2011 HOPE will be running a hatchery at Seribu Pinang and knowing the temperature of the nest is vital.  The temperature of the egg during incubation in the sand affects the sex ratio of the hatchlings – cool guys and hot chicks is the best way for remembering the way.  A temperature increase of just 2c can change the sex ration from 95% male to 95% female!
